My name is Karina Shareen and I am from New Orleans, Louisiana. I am a senior Political Science and Sociology double major with concentrations in International Politics and Criminology. My main interests in Sociology deals with the reasons why people decide to commit crime and how different factors in society can affect an individual to commit crime. I chose to participate in the LSU Sociology Internship class because I have always been fascinated with criminology and I believe that it will help me gain additional first hand experience and resources to learn about all of the different parts of the criminal justice system. After graduation, I plan to pursue a law degree and find work in the criminal justice field dealing with criminal law.
My name is Ashley Murray and I am a senior from Metairie, Louisiana. At Louisiana State University, I major in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology. I also have two minors in Music and Italian. My major academic interests are how sociological pressures influence people’s decision-making processes in terms of crime and how crime is perceived by society. In the future I hope to work in the Criminal Justice field with a focus in crime prevention. I joined the LSU Sociology Internship in order to gain practical knowledge of the field and to network with other professionals.
Hello my name is Nancy. I am a senior from Donaldsonville, Louisiana, a very small town located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I am a Sociology major with a concentration in Criminology. I love observing how society impacts peoples’ actions. My main sociological focus deals with criminals. What causes them to commit crime? Why is it they can’t fit into society? After graduating from college I plan to join the police academy. From there within the next couple of years I hope to be promoted to detective specializing in juvenile crime and then one day working for the FBI.
My name is Emma Zahm and I am currently a senior at LSU. I was born in France, but I have lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana my entire life. My sociological interest is in child behavior, and I love observing how children interact in certain situations. After college I plan on attending Occupational Therapist Graduate School, and eventually becoming an Occupational Therapist.
My name is Caitlin Connor I am from Winnfield, Louisiana and I am a senior at Louisiana State University. My major is Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and a minor in Political Science. I also have my associates in Criminal Justice from LSU Eunice. For the past 8 years I have been on the USA Shooting National Team traveling and competing all over the world. My major academic interest lies with the law enforcement system. I joined the LSU Sociology Internship to obtain additional real world experience within the criminal justice system and to make connections that can further help my future.
